Usage of Seeds

This is the seventh round of the Cotton Crop Track, which was first conducted in 1996-97.

With over 90% of the area under Bt cotton, the quantum of seeds sold by different companies is, more or less, widely known.

However, the experience of the farmers with the different varieties they cultivated in the different states, the yields they expected, the yields they obtained, the extent of satisfaction they feel with the varieties they cultivated, the extent of loyalty they have for seeds of different companies and the varieties, their cultivation practices including the quantum of seeds they use, the pests, diseases and weeds encountered etc., are all vital inputs determining the status of different seed companies.

The current round of the study addresses these issues and more.
